Chip and Walter & Time Trouble
Full page format
Fave Character: Walter
Quote: "This is supposed to be me, and my friend, and his LARGE LARGE AXE. And the three of us don't like you."
Plot: There are two of them--kids trapped in corporate plots and kids transported to a magical lands. I don't think wacky hijinks is the word.
Additional: It's really fun seeing characters who look like they're from the Disney Afternoon bleed. At least it is for me.
The Class Menagerie
4 panel format
Plot: Furries go to college. Wacky hijinks ensue.
Fave Character: Brad with his Caffeine-deficient Scowl (TM) and Kevin with his Shit-Eating Grin (TM)
Additional: The characters are more developed than you usually see in webcomics. Although there's a lot of the usual 4-panel jokes, there's also a surprising amount of mayhem, psychos and evil characters. Most of the characters are likeable, there are major story arcs in addition to simple gags, and every once in a while you hear a character's life story and everything slides into place. It's ended now, but the archives are worth going through.
Demonology 101
Issue format
Plot: I forget. I really need to reread this one.
Fire Always Makes it Better
Full page format
Plot: There is one, I just can't figure it out. I wouldn't say wacky hijinks, but there are bunnies and dragons.
Fave Character: Roland
Jack
Full page format
Plot: We follow the reaper around. Wacky hijinks are not included.
Additional: Be warned, there's fairly explicit violence as well as sex. A serious comic without being pretentious, even I can't make fun of it. There's a lot about life, death and morality. This comic is uncompromising while still being full of heart and soul. Read it when you're prepared to be depressed.
Libertine Lemonade
Full page format
Additional: I've forgotten, but I do remember it has a ferret in it!
Megatokyo
Full page format
Plot: Two geeks, namely an otaku and a gamer, fly to Japan, run out of money and get stuck there. Wacky hijinks ensue.
Fave Character: Piro
Additional: I'm a bit iffy about MT despite following it for so long. The chief reason is this--it has changed over time from being comedic to being romantic. This is a problem as the only female characters I can tell apart are Ping and Zombie-girl, and that's after several years of it. When it's funny, it's good, when it's not, I lose interest.
Ozy and Millie
4 panel format
Plot: They're weird kids. Wacky hijinks insue.
Fave Character: Llewellyn
Quote: "I announced my candidacy to that fellow on the street corner who exclaims that his sofa is an extraterrestrial. I trust awareness shall build from there, if it's meant to."
Additional: Like 4-panel comics tend to be, it is a bit hit and miss. I enjoy it and have been following it almost since I began reading comics online.
The Place Inbetween
Full page format
Plot: A startling heritage is revealed when our heroine's life is put on the line. Wacky hijinks ensue.
Fave Character: Kei. (I own him, ask Yuu-chan. =D)
Additional: It looks like the beginning of an epic modern-day fantasy. Might I add, Yuu-chan is a perfectionist. Good luck, Yuu-chan.
Return to Sender
Full page format
Plot: Odd letters and suspicious deaths. Wacky hijinks ensue.
Fave Character: Often. (I'm not the only one with odd character names.)
Quote: "He's like the bastard child of Mojo Jojo and a beat poet."
Additional: It's got that playful weirdness you have to love. Or I have to love, anyway.
RPG World
Full page format
Plot: A parody of role playing video games, centering around a quest and items that make you evil. Wacky hijinks ensue.
Additional: It's been pure humor for a long time and is now turning more plot, death and angst in parts. I don't find the latter compelling, but there's still plenty of humor.
Sabrina Online
4 panel format
Plot: A web designer and TF enthusiast ends up working for a porn company (still web designing, you naughty, naughty people, you.) Wacky hijinks ensue.
Additional: The first webcomic I ever read, I enjoy its geeky perspective. I find the romantic stuff very cute too. Squee.
Saturnalia
Full page format
Plot: A policeman is drafted into a secret organization fighting an anti-android conspiracy. Wacky hijinks ensue.
Fave Character: Sysreq Varies (I own him. Ask Youzie =D)
Quote: "Are you kidding? I'm a fucking genius!"
Additional: This looks like a geniune manga. She bothers to draw backgrounds and such. Bizarre.
Sinfest
4 panel format
Plot: Although the strips follow a chronological order and have story arcs, there's no continuous plot that prevents you from reading strips at random.
Fave Character: The Devil's fanboy
Quote: "You're in my prayers, child."
"And you're on my LIST, buddy."
Additional: One of the most professional looking webcomics out there with lots of reason to like it. But very non-PC, ye of tender sensibilities. (...why are you on my site then anyway?)
Sluggy Freelance
4-panal/Full page combo
Plot: A web designer and an inventor and a homocidal bunny and a hyper ferret and a shape-shifting alien and a normal girl and sometimes a crotch-obsessed guy and a ghost and a witch and various attachments live together. Wacky hijinks ensue.
Fave Character: Torg, Aylee
Quote: "The bread says TOOAAAAST."
Additional: One of the longest running webcomics, Sluggy balances parody with original with quick gags with repeated overhanging storylines. It's hard to sum up. Don't be intimidated by the size of the archives--give it a try by reading a story arc that parodies something you like.
Something!
Full page format
Plot: Mad scientist and normal person verses alien Zimish guy. Wacky hijinks ensue.
Fave character: ...normal person?
Additional: It's strange and amusing psychosis, but currently on hiatus. Check out the author's new comic, it has pirates. Pirates!
Something Positive
Full page format
Plot: The sarcastic, jaded, violent, crazy and stupid hang out. Wacky hijinks ensue.
Fave Character: Choo-choo bear, Davan
Quote: "Who's daddy's favorite weapon, huh? Is it Choo-choo? Is it Choo-choo? Yes, it is! Such a good hand-to-hand weapon you are!"
Additional: It's extremely funny. Just go look.
Under Power
Full page format
Plot: Stereotypes save the world. Or at least they're supposed to. Once they're done killing random people, anyway. Wacky hijinks ensue as long as you include random carnage in your definition.
Fave Character: Mr. Cynical
Additional: Great art but definitely not work safe. I shouldn't laugh this hard at Mr. Cynical swearing while suspended by the ceiling from hooks, yet I do.
